The Position General description: Employed Physician Network position for full-time hospitalist at Hospital near Asheville, NC. Other locations served: N/A Percentage of IP & OP: 100% inpatient Expected patient load: 15-18 patients per shift on average It is very rare that we have 20 patients per doc. Patient census statistics going back to January show highest patient volume per hospitalist has been 17 per day, and that has only happened a couple of times. Reason for open position: One physician relocating; need full complement staffing for 24/7 shifts with 7 days on, 7 days off. Seeking to add two physicians. Community: Located in heart of Blue Ridge Mountains, County contains portions of the Great smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, 2 Federal wilderness areas, and large areas of National forest. Mild summers, due to altitude, and generally mild winters because of southern latitude. Wealth of recreational activities - hiking, camping, golf, mountain and road bicycling, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. County offers a variety of excellent restaurants, and local cultural events, with an active arts community. Asheville is 20 minutes away by interstate with most urban amenities. Our group: It is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site, which qualifies for Federal student loan assistance. Other: We anticipate that a new internist would be quite busy immediately.
